Ultrafine copper powder is powdered copper with a purity of at least 99.999%. To produce one gram of this powder, besides some additives, more than 250 kilos of copper are needed. Copper is the most commonly used material in powder metallurgy and copper powder has a very wide range of applications. Although there are cheaper copper powders with lower copper purity or relatively high particle size, the production of copper powder with high purity and small particle size ultrafine is much more expensive than that of copper cathodes due to the complex and costly production process. The higher the purity and the smaller the particle size, the more expensive the copper powder.
