About Karama Recycling Centre

Karama Recycling center is Dubai’s 2nd recycling center setup by Dubai Municipality. Launched in 2016, the recycling center has slots to dispose 18 kinds of waste. All the items dropped into the recycling center will be recycled. It is estimated that a person in Dubai generates 2.7KG of waste every day, making up almost 1000 KG in a year. 25% of the waste is typically recycled and the government intends to improve it to 75% by 2021. The recycling center has separate drop boxes forRecycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. This concept often includes the recovery of energy from waste materials. The recyclability of a material depends on its ability to reacquire the properties it had in its original state.[1] It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions. It can also prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reducing energy use, air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling).
