A condominium, or condo for short, is a type of real estate ownership in which individual units are privately owned, but the common areas and facilities are jointly owned and managed by all unit owners. Condos are typically found in multi-unit buildings, such as apartment complexes, but they can also be found in townhouses and even single-family homes. The main difference between a condo and a single-family home is that the owner of a condo does not own the land on which the unit is located. Instead, the land is owned by the condominium association, which is made up of all the unit owners in the building. This means that condo owners have to pay monthly association fees to cover the cost of maintenance and repairs to the common areas.
