Al Zahia STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) is a wastewater treatment plant located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The plant was commissioned in 2012 and has a treatment capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day. The plant uses a conventional activated sludge process to treat wastewater. The wastewater is first screened to remove large solids. It is then pumped to a grit chamber to remove sand and grit. The wastewater then flows to an aeration tank where it is mixed with air and bacteria. The bacteria break down the organic matter in the wastewater. The treated wastewater is then discharged to a clarifier where it is allowed to settle. The clarified wastewater is then discharged to the Arabian Gulf.
